A free hearing assessment is available for those who already have a private hearing aid and are interested in purchasing a new private hearing aid. There is a fee when consulting for other purposes including reassessments, hearing aid reprogramming and medico-legal.
The assessment takes 45 minutes and initially involves taking a full history. This is used to establish the degree of your concerns and establish where you are having difficulty. It is also involves medical history about your ears to determine if there are any other relevant factors or need for medical treatment. I will then look into your external ear canals using an otoscope. This will ascertain whether you have a wax problem and will allow examination of the ear drum. If there is a wax problem I can remove it prior to testing your hearing. Your hearing is then tested.
After the hearing test I will explain the results and if you have a significant hearing loss I will discuss the options available.
A small fee is required if you ask for a home visit and decide not to proceed with a private hearing aid.
